Approach
My primary approach to therapy is cognitive-behavioural. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of many disorders including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders and insomnia. CBT is a structured, time-limited treatment approach that focuses on making changes to the clients' behaviour and thought processes in order to improve their mood. It is a collaborate treatment approach wherein the client is actively involved in working toward this change alongside the therapist.
In addition to CBT, I often incorporate other treatment modalities, including mindfulness-based approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and motivational interviewing into my work with clients. Most importantly, I work alongside each client in an effort to cater the treatment approach to meet their individual needs.
